What is the time zone in Bhutan?
BTT (Bhutan Time) is UTC/GMT +6 hours, which is 0.5 hours ahead of Delhi time and 1 hour behind Bangkok time. The entire country of Bhutan is in the UTC/GMT +6 time zone, and Bhutan does not use Daylight Saving Time.

Would we need travel insurance?
Travel insurance is no longer a requirement for visa application. Therefore it is up to the guest, weather they would like to insure their travel or not. We can help you purchase a travel insurance from a Bhutanese Insurance Company and the cost ranges from USD10-40 depending on the length of the stay and coverage.
Do I need a guide or a route permit to travel around Bhutan?
A local guide will help you see the best that the country has to offer and will ensure your safety when exploring unfamiliar terrain and altitude. It is mandatory to be accompanied by a guide for any journey or any trek beyond Thimphu and Paro. Guides are also mandatory for visitors who enter Bhutan via our land borders and plan to travel beyond the border towns.
Guests no longer require a Route permit to travel around the country, so long as they are accompanied by a guide certified by the Department of Tourism.
What’s the maximum amount a tourist can bring to Bhutan?
USD 9,999 or more than this amount, the bearer must declare to customs at the point of entry/exit.
Are drones allowed in Bhutan?
No. The government of Bhutan banned the use of drones in 2015.
What is the expected tipping behavior in Bhutan?
For groups of two or less, guides are normally tipped an average of USD 10 per person per day and drivers are normally tipped an average of USD 5 per person per day. For groups larger than two persons, guides are normally tipped an average of USD 5 per person per day and drivers are normally tipped an average of USD 3 per person per day. Both tips are normally paid as a lump sum on the final day of the trip. Trekking porters are tipped an average of USD 8 per person per day. Farm stays are normally not tipped. Tips are not common for meals or drinks.
