Druk Yul, Bhutan’s official name, translates to the Land of the Thunder Dragon and is a place rich in cultural heritage, much of which remained hidden until recently. Upon your arrival, your Six Senses GEM (Guest Experience Maker) will greet you and guide you on a khamsa (‘royal stroll’) through the Kingdom, offering insights into the culture, history, and local life of each valley you visit.

Itinerary

A one-hour drive to Thimphu, Bhutan's capital. If you're up for it, visit the 52-meter Buddha Dordenma statue or enjoy a relaxing 2 ½-hour hike to Changangkha Lhakhang to ease jetlag. Dine outdoors at Six Senses’ sunken terrace, then unwind with a Jet Lag Massage or explore other spa therapies.

Rejuvenate with wellness activities at the spa, including daily yoga and meditation sessions. Explore Simply Bhutan Museum, Choki Traditional Arts School, Royal Textile Academy, local artisan shops, Memorial Stupa, and Tashichho Dzong.

Drive through Dochula Pass for breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Enjoy late afternoon pomegranate martinis by the riverside in a rice field, with a dzong backdrop, while snacking on local delicacies. Relax in the cozy ‘Flying Farmhouse’, a cantilevered wooden lounge with stunning views over the heated pool and terraced rice fields below.Day 4- Explore Punakha Valley

Hike to Chorten Ngingpo Monastery and join novice monks for a traditional monastic breakfast. Engage with the monks and chief abbot to learn about their daily lives. Sample homemade ara (Bhutanese moonshine) at a local farmhouse. Enjoy lunch by the pool at Six Senses Punakha, then in the afternoon, cross Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge before visiting the majestic Punakha Dzong.

Take a gentle bike ride along the river or hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. Explore Talo Nobgang village, Wolakha Nunnery, and Chimi Lhakhang, a fertility temple honoring the ‘Divine Madman’ Drukpa Kinley. Enjoy a Shirodhara session, a stress-relieving treatment with warm oil poured over the third eye to calm the nervous system.

Drive Gangtey- 3hrs, visit Black-necked Crane Visitor Centre, bike from the valley through local villages and farmland on the way to our buckwheat hut, return to the lodge by bike or on foot, stopping along the way at Khewang Lhakhang on the valley floor to see the temple’s unique Buddha statues and original painted walls, indulge in a nourishing Swedana steam ritual designed for rejuvenating and cleansing your body, mind and soul at the end of the day.

Hike the Longtey Nature Trail (3-4 hrs) with a picnic lunch, then visit the 16th-century Gangtey Goemba. Return to the lodge for cocktails at sunset by the firepit, then bike or drive to a nearby 7th-century temple for a blessing. Enjoy an intimate candlelit dinner in a cowshed, with your meal cooked over an open fire.

Drive to Bumthang- 4hrs, Stop in Trongsa to visit Trongsa Dzong and Royal Heritage Museum, enjoy picnic lunch with a valley view, Continue to Chumey village, famous for its colorful Yathra wool, finish your day’s journey through forests to Jakar Valley, home to Six Senses Bumthang, nestled at 8,575 feet, surrounded by blue pines and the rushing Chamkhar Chhu river.

Start your day at Jakar Dzong, then visit Wangdichholing Palace, explore Bumthang’s pilgrimage sites on foot or by bike, starting at Jambay Lhakhang, followed by Kurjey Lhakhang and a visit to Tamzhing Lhakhang. Enjoy a light lunch at the lodge before driving to the base of Bumthang’s ‘Mini Tiger’s Nest’ for a short hike to the temple. End the day with dinner at Tongtshang or opt for a farmhouse dinner with local cuisine and noodle-making at the home of Dechen Yangzom, Sous Chef at Six Senses Thimphu Lodge.

Start your day at the Fifth King’s temple to pay respects, then visit Mebartsho (Burning Lake), visit the nearby Pemacholing nunnery before beginning the Bushman hike- 3/4hrs, picnic lunch along the wayn the afternoon, sample local beer and cheese at Red Panda Brewery, followed by a stroll through Jakar Village. End the day with a traditional Bhutanese dotsho, a soothing hot stone bath at the lodge.

After breakfast, fly to Paro from Bumthang- 35mins, visit National Museum of Bhutan, Rinpung Dzong and cross Nyamai Zampa bridge, enjoy lunch at a local farmhouse (optional). Check into Six Senses Paro, set at 9,415 feet with views of a 15th-century fortress. Challenge your guide and driver to archery before relaxing for the rest of the day.

Hike to Taktsanga Gonpa, where you'll hear stories of Guru Rinpoche, an 8th-century Tibetan saint who flew to the site on the back of a tigress. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the way, then visit Kyichu Lhakhang, a 7th-century temple with two magical orange trees that bear fruit year-round. After returning to the lodge, relax with a dip in the pool or indulge in a rejuvenating Marma massage at the Six Senses Spa.

Join a wellness activity at the spa, then walk downhill through pine forests and stroll through Paro’s charming main street, lined with handicraft shops and local restaurants. Visit Samtenling Monastery for a Buddhist blessing ceremony, lighting 108 butter lamps to share blessings with all beings. End your Bhutan journey with a starry Chubjakha Ruins Regales dinner, dressed in national attire, enjoying live music, folk dances, and a traditional Bhutanese meal cooked on an outdoor stone grill.

Cancellation Policy
For a trip booked and subsequently cancelled, the following applies:
More than 60 days before start of travel program, USD 200 flat rate/per person + Advance payments made to hotels (if any) + Transfer charges
Between 60 – 10 days: 45% of the package cost retain
Less than 10 Days, 100% payment will be retained
For air tickets issued and subsequently cancelled, the following apply.
75% refund permitted for tickets cancelled more than 30 days from the date of travel.
50% refund permitted for tickets cancelled between 30 – last 10 days from the date of travel.
25% refund permitted for tickets cancelled prior to 04 (four) days from the date of travel.
No refund for tickets cancelled within 4 days of travel date.
For air tickets issued and subsequently rescheduled, the following applies:
USD 40 rescheduling fee or equivalent local currency for every flight reschedule less than 72 hours prior to date of travel. No charges for business class passengers
